These emails request the email recipients to make money transfers to a specified party. Hongkong Post clarifies that it has no connection with these fraudulent emails. Members of the public are reminded not to open any suspicious emails.

Phishing Attack - Suspected fraudulent websites: p.uberthepyro.com
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) wishes to alert members of the public to a suspicious website with the domain name "p.uberthepyro.com". It appears to the HKMA that the website can be used as a proxy for connecting to the official websites of banks in Hong Kong. So far, Chong Hing Bank Limited, Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Public Bank (Hong Kong) Limited have reported to the HKMA that their websites could be accessed through this suspicious website (i.e. http://www.chbank.com.p.uberthepyro.com/en/commercial/index.shtml, http://www.fubonbank.com.hk.p.uberthepyro.com/web/html/index_c.html and http://www.publicbank.com.hk.p.uberthepyro.com/en/home). As it is uncertain whether account information such as logon user name and password may be captured by this suspicious website, bank customers are reminded to always connect to a bank website by typing the authentic website address in the browser or by bookmarking the genuine website for subsequent access, rather than through this suspicious website. The HKMA has referred the case to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation.

Phishing Attack - Fraudulent emails purportedly issued by Inland Revenue Department
The Inland Revenue Department today (April 30) alerted members of the public to fraudulent emails purportedly issued by the department from the email account "noreply@ird.gov.hk". The emails are attached with a document under the title "TaxReturnReport.zip", which may contain a computer virus. The department has no connection with the fraudulent emails and has reported the case to the Police for further investigation.
