Information security awareness promotion is an ongoing process. To ride on the success of the "Three Smart Tips to Clean PC" Campaign which was held last November, a second tide of the promotion campaign namely "Hong Kong Clean PC Day 2006" is jointly organised by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT) and the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) this November to achieve the broadest penetration of these "Three Smart Tips" and provide the public the techniques to protect their PC from cyber attack. To dovetail the campaign, various promotion activities and materials have been arranged. The followings are the details of the promotion activities held during the campaign.
As the finale of the Campaign, a "Hong Kong Clean PC Day 2006" Carnival was held in Mong Kok MacPherson Playground Stadium on 25 November 2006 (Saturday). The Assistant Government Chief Information Officer, Mr. John Wong, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Shelton Ng and General Manager of Hong Kong Productivity Council, Mr. K.T. Yung officiated at the Opening Ceremony for the Carnival as the Guests of Honour.
Information and game booths were hosted by different information security practitioners in addition to a variety of performances by the Police Band and Hong Kong Junior Police Call. Display of the latest Third Generation Robot-cop and Saxon armoured personnel carriers was part of the attractions during the carnival. Despite the light rain, over 1000 citizens have participated in the event and our booth was one of the hot visiting spots. The Carnival concluded with a strong response from the community especially the children. The followings are some of the snapshots of the Carnival:
Two identical one-day "Hong Kong Clean PC Day 2006" seminars have been held in Tsuen Wan Town Hall on 20/11/2006 and 22/11/2006. About 400 people have attended the seminars. During the seminars, the speakers shared their expertise with the audiences. The ensuing Q&A session was actively participated by the audiences.
Publicity leaflets and posters (in Chinese) are also designed and distributed to various parties including community facilities, libraries and schools, and through various events such as public exhibitions, conferences and seminars.
