HSBC - Periodic review of customer accounts (with sample)
22 Nov 2004

A phishing email, purporting to be sent from the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), claims that there is a periodic review of customers' accounts with the aim to reducing fraud on websites and protecting customers' information. Customers are requested to verify their Internet banking account's user name and password by clicking on the embedded hyperlink (for example: http://207.150.192.12/temp/souledou/hg.html) to connect a fraudulent website. The fraudulent website looks similar to HSBC's Personal Internet Banking logon webpage.
